Christopher Robert Evans (born June 13, 1981) is an American actor who has captivated audiences with his performances across various genres. He began his career with roles in television series, such as "Opposite Sex" in 2000. Following appearances in several teen films, including 2001's "Not Another Teen Movie," he gained significant attention for his portrayal of the Marvel Comics character the Human Torch in 2005's "Fantastic Four" and its sequel, "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" (2007).

Evans gained wider recognition for his iconic role as Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America, in several Marvel Cinematic Universe films. His performances in "Captain America: The First Avenger" (2011), "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" (2014), and "Captain America: Civil War" (2016), along with ensemble films like "The Avengers" (2012) and "Avengers: Endgame" (2019), established him as one of the highest-paid actors in the world.

Beyond his superhero roles, Evans showcased his versatility in films such as the drama "Gifted" (2017), the mystery thriller "Knives Out" (2019), and the television miniseries "Defending Jacob" (2020). His mother, Lisa, is an artistic director at the Concord Youth Theater, while his father, Bob, is a dentist. Evans has two sisters, Carly and Shanna, and a brother, actor Scott Evans. Raised in a Catholic household, he has Irish and Italian ancestry.

From a young age, Evans was drawn to the performing arts, participating in musical theater and acting camps. He played Randolph MacAfee in the musical "Bye Bye Birdie" and often performed for family during the holidays, recalling that being on stage felt like home. Before his senior year of high school, he spent a summer in New York City, taking classes at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. He graduated from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in 1999.

Evans is a passionate supporter of Christopher's Haven, a charity that provides housing for families affected by childhood cancer. He has participated in various fundraisers for the organization, including a memorable visit to Seattle Children's Hospital with fellow actor Chris Pratt, which raised significant donations. In May 2020, he organized a virtual fundraiser featuring his Avengers co-stars to benefit organizations like Feeding America and No Kid Hungry. His commitment to philanthropy was further highlighted when he won $80,000 for Christopher's Haven by placing third in a charity fantasy football tournament with his Avengers colleagues.
